I wrote a book about my life!

Hey!

Did you know I wrote a book?
You won’t find it in a book store though, its the end-product of a course I did. Let me tell you a bit about it.

See, I’ve done a lot of courses over the years, and have spent thousands of dollars on my education. I’ve taken courses about habits, speed reading, improving memory and the list goes on.

The very first one I ever did was Tony Robbins’ “Personal Power 2: The Driving Force” which a friend gifted me. It was a stack of 30 CD’s on a spindle, remember those? I think I only finished two thirds of the course, but it had quite an impact on me. I went from being depressed, unemployed and sleeping in til noon to having a full time job in a matter of weeks.

That was back in 2014, and since then I’ve been hooked.

The last in-depth course I did was called LifeBook, and it’s by far the best online personal development course I’ve done. I had just quit my job and went travelling around Europe for four months, so I had the time to spare to sink into the course and the resources to fund it, but it was absolutely time well spent. I’d say I put almost 100 hours into the course, but now I have an entire book about everything I want out of life. I actually wrote a lot of it while in a rented campervan, at random beaches around Portugal. Now I have a “north star” to look at and guide me in all of my decision making.

Every day I read my “Life Vision Synopsis”, which is a summary of my entire 5-year plan. It is the driving force behind all of my goals as well as all of my daily habits. Everything is connected by what they refer to in the course as a “golden thread of consciousness”.

LifeBook is quite expensive, and it’s a lot of work, but it’s the course I’ve recommended more than any other.

The course is broken into two parts: Lifebook Online and LifeBook Mastery.

LifeBook online, which is hosted through MindValley, breaks down your life into 12 different categories. These are Health & Fitness, Intellectual, Emotional, Character, Spiritual, Romantic, Parenting, Social, Career, Financial, Quality Of Life and Life Vision.

For each category there’s an hour long video which assists you to write your premise (aka your beliefs), your vision for that category, the purpose of that category in your life and your strategy to achieve it. At the end of it you have an entire book written, about everything you want in life. Initially most of the statements in your own LifeBook are cut and paste from the author Jon Butcher, but the idea is that you integrate a monthly rhythm of focusing on one category per month, and over time it becomes your own. This comes from books you read, podcasts you listen to and of course your own personal experiences.

You can make a physical book, which they used to mainly do, or you can make a digital one using the documents they provide. You can also make your own version entirely. You fill the book with pictures, quotes etc and it becomes like a 100-page vision board that gives you focus on every area of your life.

Personally I use Notion and have mine set up digitally.

Once you complete LifeBook online you move onto LifeBook Mastery, which is a seperate course.

Here, you put your whole LifeBook to the test, ensuring every part of it is equally challenging and realistic. This is a guided process and takes as much time as the previous course, if not more.

You then write a one-page synopsis of your life vision, which is the one I mentioned earlier. Based off of the synopsis, you come up with your top 5 “foundational goals” which are the big rocks that will help move everything else in to place. Based on these 5 goals, you work backwards from 5 year goals to one year goals, quarterly goals, weekly goals and right down to your daily habits. These are the habits you track daily, and are affectionately titled “12 sacred choices”. Along with this system, they have a whole bunch of available resources to keep learning from as you continue your “LifeBook rhythm”.

At the end of each year they do a “Start Strong Challenge” where you look back on the year gone, assess how well you’ve done with your life vision, and adjust accordingly. LifeBook online is a one-off payment, which I think was $499 USD, and the LifeBook mastery program is a yearly subscription service, which I think is $299 USD per year. Through this membership they have monthly calls with the authors, workshops hosted by other members, and a community where you can ask questions.

I finished these two courses, and then attended Tony Robbins’ event Date With Destiny, and I’ve described it as LifeBook being the ingredients in the pot, and Date With Destiny being the flame underneath it.

Pretty cool right?

Maybe this could work for you too!

If you have any questions, let me know!

Big hugs,

Ben.

PS. I have no financial ties or affiliation to MindValley, LifeBook or Tony Robbins. If you think this course is something you’d want to pursue further you can check out this one-hour free webinar.
